〔宮中儀式用の照明器具〕 a torch made from a pine stick whose tip is soaked in oil, with paper wound around the end held in the hand; 〔小皿中の油に浸したこよりを使った蝋燭〕 a candle made from a thin strip of paper or cloth twisted into a “stick” and steeped in oil.
